An annotated edition of the 1748 text, including a valuable historical introduction giving infromation on George Anson and his men, his and Spanish ships, and the health problems experienced during the voyage. Ansons Expedition mit sechs schiffe wurde von Londoner Kaufherren ausgerichtet, die trotz des Verlustes von fünf Schiffe immer noch einen grossen Gewinn verbuchen konnten, da Anson das letzte Schiff die 'Centurion', nach Kaperung einer spanischen Galleone goldbeladen zurückbrachte. Die Reisebeschreibung wurde von Richard Walter aus Ansons Reisejournalen herausgegeben. Sie gehört zu den meistgelesenen Seefahrtsberichte des 18. Jahrhunderts. (Wolfgang Griep & Susanne Luber).
