¶ Fra Olaus Magnus: Historia de gentibus septentrionalium. Basert på Carta Marina fra 1539. Svenske Olaus Magnus var prest, biskop og forfatter. Utdannet i Tyskland. Måtte forlate Sverige ved reformasjonen, og jobbet senere for katolisismens gjenninføring i Norden. Brukte og mye tid på studiet av Nordens historie, og fullførte sitt hovedverk Historia de gentibus septentrionalium i 1555. Denne kom senere i flere utgaver, blant annet i 1567 hvor dette kartet er hentet fra. Kartet er tegnet av Thomas Weber.
