¶ Isokrates (436-338 f.Kr.) var en berømt attisk talelærer, og elev av bl.a. Gorgias, men p.g.a. svak stemme skrev han mest taler, særlig rettstaler for andre. Ca. 20 bevart, og av disse er de såkaldte Panegyrikos de mest sentrale, der ham priser athenerne og råder grekerne til å samle seg mot perserne (Schweiger I, 183).
