¶ Erik Jarvik, Prof. at the department of Palaeozoology, Stockholm University, and Tor Ørvig (Professor from 1973 to 1982) focused on the "lower" vertebrates, from cyclostomes to transitional forms between bony fish and amphibians. Jarvik's predecessor Erik Stensiö [1891-1984], prof., 1923 to1959, founded the so-called Stockholm School of studies in vertebrate structure and evolution.
