"Sweden's most legendary 19th century photographer is Johannes Jaeger. He was born in Berlin, and came to Sweden in 1856 at the age of 26. After a number of years traveling the country, he settled in 1863 in Stockholm, where the varied nature of his talent rapidly brought him to the fore. His studio was one of the most magnificent in the country. As a visual artist, he can best be described as a Classicist"(Söderberg & Rittsel, p. 330).
