First edition. Stockholm. Tryckt hos P. G. Berg. 1857-[58]. Folio. Title + 28 pp. + 30 steel engraved plates. Half title missing. (All published). Contemporary green cloth. Gilt title at the front board. Gilt decorated spine. A few minor scratches at the boards. Title page and a text leaf with some brown spots. A few plates lightly foxed in the margins. One plate with a brown spot in the image area. Over all in nice condition.
¶ This is the rare 1857 first edition of a work later published under the name "Europa framställdt i teckningar" (1861). Both these editions are clones of a german original. The plates shows the sights in the countries of Europe. Several images to each plate. Sweden, Russia, Italy Greece, Germany, England etc. A full page of the ruins in Rome. The text stops in the midst of a column as the puiblishing suddenly stoped. It was planned to be published in 10 parts with six plates each, only five were issued.
