MANUSCRIPT; THREE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH ALBUMS ON GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORY. 3 VOL.
Three wonderful, autographed and hand-drawn, 19th century albums in folio on Geography and History in French. Not dated, but later half of 19th century. Two half-calf bindings and one leather-binding. All with the initials "C. du M." in gilt on front boards.
One volume titled "Atlas historique" with 80 pages (reverse blanc) of handwritten history from "Première siècle" til "Dix-Neivième siècle" . Written in double pages with columnes titled "Eglise", "Bas-Empire", "France", "Traité contemporaine" and "Hommes Illustres". After that 3 double-paged handdrawn, partly coloured, maps of "Europe", "Bas-Empire" and "Empire Ottoman". And then "Ville historiques du Bas Empire de l´Empire Ottoman" + a double-paged map of "France historique" with text-pages. Second volume with the title "Souvenires historiques" with "Notions préliminaires" - 68 pages of history from decade to decade (reverse pages blanc) treating "Histoire d´Angleterre", "Histoire d´Espagne", "Histoire d´Allemagne", and "Histoire d´Italie" + partly coloured maps of "Iles Britanniques", "Espagne-Portugal", "Autriche", "Prusse et Allemagne" and "Italie." Third volume with title-page "Tableux Cartes" starting with a handwritten "Constructions des cartes géographiques" (a kind of manuel) + two "Mappemondes" from the "Equator" and "de Méridien". Then maps of "Europe", "Asie", "Afrique" , "Amerique" and "Oceanie" (partly hand-coloured) + 7 double-pages of "Histoire Ancienne de Tableu". In the end text and map of France, Espagne, Angleterre, Allemagne, Dannemarck, Suède et Norwege, Suisse - Helvetia, Algerie and a "Table.". This is european calligraphie !
