PALLADIO, ANDREA. - A GUIDE TO ROME.
Le Antichita dell' Alma Citta di Roma. Raccolte breuemente da molti Autori Antichi, e Moderni. Aggiuntoui di nouuo alcune bellissime Figure. Con vn discorso sopra i fuochi de gl' Antichi.

Roma, Guglielmo Facciotti, 1629. Small8vo. (16,5x11 cm.). Cont. limp vellum. A woodcut on titlepage. 48 pp. and 17 halfpage woodcuts in the text showing antique buildings. Some light browning. Some faint dampstaining to the last 2 leaves.
¶ Extremely scarce guide to the antiquities of Rome by the famous architect Andrea Palladio (1508-80). This little guide to the buildings of Rome was first issued in Venice in 1554, but was not illustrated. The present edition is probably the first illustrated edition published. - Graesse lists 7 editions before the 1629-edition, all seems to be unillustrated. (Graesse V:p.168) - Adams P:100 listing only one edition from 1596. - Not in Brunet.
