Gilles Deleuze (1925-1995) was an influential French philosopher, whose interpretations of modern philosophers (in this case Hume) and monographic works of philosophy have highly influenced contemporary continental philosophy. He is a key figure in what is known as postmodern thought, and his original approach to philosophy, sociology etc. makes him an influential figure in modern-day academia.
Deleuze's first book, "Empiricism and Subjectivity" which is an interpretation of the philosophy of Hume, takes an original and unusually radical turn on this leading British empiricist. Deleuze understands Huma as being primarily a philosopher of subjectivity, and he argues that Hume' main concern is the relation between human nature and nature.
