Concrete poetry, ‘objects trouvées’, and Fluxus items pages and inserts by a.o.: Hein Heinsen, Bjørn Nørgaard, Lene Adler Pedersen Henning Christiansen, Per Kirkeby. The condition is variable like is always with this work: condition of issue one and two are both unopened, issue three has as always heavy discoloring because the small plastic container with the rose cream that John Davidsen added to the set has imploded over the years - a phenomenon comparable to the balloon in Andy Warhol's Index Book. The cake that belonged to issue four is partly still existing in this set but has gone to pieces and also left discoloring to some pieces. More photos available upon request. Number one and two are unopened (!) in the original worn stamped brown paper envelopes. Number 3 and 4 without the envelopes but in their original plastic bag. The cover of the plastic bag for number one has an original beautiful silkscreen print in red by Per Kirkeby. Extremely rare set.

Published during the beginnings of the FKK (Freikörperkultur - Free Body Culture) movement with the purpose of educating the public on the aesthetic and beauty of the human body, expressing an attitude towards life in which the naked body is nothing to be ashamed of. Edizioni EAST 128, 14 Via Manzoni, Milano, 1968. Unpaginated. Richly illustrated. Orig. printed wraps. Complete with no loose leaves. A small stain on the spine, wraps with light edgewear and a little creasing at the corners. Else a surprisingly clean and collectible copy of this fragile and scarce publication. In near fine condition. A double issue of the important Italian Beat-magazine 'Pianeta Fresco' conceived and published by the couple Fernanda Pivano and Ettore Sottsass Jr. in Milan. Three numbers were published, no. 1 in late 1967, and the double issue no. 2-3 in early 1968, both in very limited editions. Pivano translated several of the American Beat writers into Italian, and became a friend of Allen Ginsberg, who is also credited in the colophon as 'edittore irresponsabile'. The experimental - and highly psychedelic - graphic layout of the magazine was done by Pivanos husband, Italian architect and designer Ettore Sottsass Jr., who in the 1980’s became a leading figure in the influential 'Memphis Group'.

("Vid debututställningen 1919 visade Arvid Fougstedt även upp sin koloristiska, kubistiska och naivistiska lekfullhet".) - - - Ej inramad. Monterad i syrafri passepartout (bomullskartong) med yttermått 50 x 60 cm.  som passar standardramar. Fotograferad i en ekram från Stockholm ram. Familjen Fougstedt tillbringade mycket av 1910-talet i Frankrike, och återvände till Sverige 1917. - - - "På sensommaren 1916 kunde den lilla familjen lyckligtvis få komma ut till Bretagne och det milda atlantkustklimatet och där bo välordnat i Douëlan med postadress Finistère med hjälp av de goda vännerna målaren John Sten och författaren Tore Dahlström. Arvid hade genom sin syster Irma fått en beställning på en landskapsmålning för en av Stora Kopparbergs chefer i Frankrike och förskottet skapade en tids ekonomisk trygghet. Han har i några av sina mest uppsluppna teckningar och brev någonsin skildrat deras glädje, och både han och Gerda återkom under åren till den ljusa tiden i Douëlan, då de hoppade på klipporna och mådde gott. I både brev och på vykort till föräldrarna illustrerade han deras glada tid i Douëlan, som på ett vykort där har ritat in den lilla familjen längst ut på en pir, medan våorna går höga" (Johannesson, sid. 177).

Något olika ryggdekor och etiketter. Essén s. 83. Setterwall 6064. Krok s. 158. Planscherna är litograferade av Schéele. Prosten m.m. C. U. Ekströms (1781-1859) beskrivning över Mörkö, som han skrev på uppdrag av Nils Bonde, hade ambitionen att täcka allt. Öns naturalhistoria upptar två tredjedelar av texten, med en rik beskrivning av bl.a. insektsfloran, men beskrivningen innehåller även anekdoter och folkloristik om allmogens vidskeplighet m.m. Den blev en stor framgång när den utkom 1828. Gunnar Brusewitz frågar sig (i Björnjägare och fjärilsmålare) retoriskt om ”...någon författare kommit närmare det linneanska idealet för en topografisk skildring än pastorn på Mörkö”. Den handkolorerade planschen föreställer ett par i sockendräkt.

Skämtsam inbjudan till middag i Utile Dulci på Stallmästaregården den 14 januari 1899 i form av en inkallelse till Danderyds häradsrätt. Stockholm 1898. Folio. [4] sid., med text på första sidan. Oskuren, spår av vikning. Ytterst sällsynt. Avser den berömda, skämtsamma rättegången mot Verner von Heidenstam 1899 i sällskapet Utile Dulci, där Birger Mörner var sekreterare och sammankallande ledamot, och där en stor del av den svenska parnassen ingick, däribland Carl Larsson, prins Eugen, Albert Engström, paret Pauli, Anders Zorn, paret Boberg, Verner von Heidenstam, Ellen Key, Carl Laurin, Oscar Levertin, Selma Lagerlöf, Hjalmar Söderberg, F. U. Wrangel och Karl Wåhlin. - - - Mörner beskriver händelsen utförligt i kapitlet "Ett ting i Danderyd" i sina memoarer (Ur mitt irrande liv, 1925, s. 97-140) som "den afton i U. D. som jag livligast minns". - - - Ellen Key ville i Utile Dulci kritisera Heidenstams senaste bok "Klassicitet och germanism". Mörner kom på att det hela borde ges juridiska former, och såg till att man fick låna den flygelbyggnad vid Stallmästaregården som Danderyds domsaga använde som tingshussal. Ellen Key fick i sin tur underteckna en stämning, varpå alla ledamöterna (med respektive) instämdes såsom rättegångsvittnen utom prins Eugen, som man inte gärna ville uppsöka med stämningsman. Den tryckta stämningen är daterad 21 december 1898, och tinget hölls den 14 januari 1899. - - - Det inleddes med att Elley Key identifierade sig som kärande (med Albert Engström som biträde), varpå Heidenstam infördes som fånge. Man hade lånat en stor köksnyckel från restaurangen att skramla med! Mörner redogör sedan rätt ingående för den ovanliga rättegången och dess replikväxling. Heidenstam angreps hårt, bl. a. för sin ovilja mot humor, men yrkade slutligen på att bli frikänd - istället borde käranden straffas för slöseri med allmänna medel (dvs språket, allas egendom). Albert Engström i sin tur yrkade på halshuggning, varpå F. U. Wrangel med hänvisning till brottslingens adelskap påminde om att endast halshuggning med svärd i så fall kunde bli aktuellt. Rätten dömde slutligen Heidenstam att under 14 dagar genomläsa Ellen Keys samtliga skrifter. Heidenstam bad att få straffet sänkt till dödsstraff. - - - Allan Ranius: Verner von Heidenstam. An attractive survey of early 'International Style' architecture as it was put into practice by one of its foremost Czech observers, with an introduction by Rossmann (who also is responsible for the congenial typographical design - not least attractive are the last thirty pages of advertisements for "firmen, welche an unseren bauten mitarbeiten" with an introduction by Bohuslav Fuchs). Trilingual text and captions in Czech, German and French.

First blank page in one of the volumes with gift inscription. A near fine copy. Made by the famous publisher in honor of the 91st year of the painter Ch'i P'ai-shih.

Spine with gilt lettering and floral motifs and boards with gilt floral motifs within a gilt-ruled panel. End-papers with Moorish lattice forms. Upper edge gilt, fore- and lower edge uncut. Binding signed “AK”. Internally very fine and clean, overall a most attractive copy. 556 pp. + frontispiece. Pp 399-400 are counted twice whereas pages 495-496 are skipped so that the final page count remains correct. P. 9 'Talismane' instead of later 'Talisman', indicating the first issue. Housed in a slipcase. Withbound in the back are pp. 7-10, the corrected pages from the second issue. A very fine copy of the first edition, first issue, of Goethe’s celebrated cycle of lyrical poems, inspired by the works of the great Persian poet Hafez. Intended as a poetic dialogue between East and West “Divan” also reflects Goethe’s deep affection for the Austrian dancer Marianne von Willemer (1784–1860) who contributed several poems to the collection. Furthermore it represents one of the most important engagement with Eastern poetry in German Romantic literature and contains some of the finest verses of Goethe’s later years. “The West-Eastern Divan is in many ways a revolutionary book. Goethe himself was no revolutionary – far from it – and yet his book had the effect of capsizing conventional nineteenth-century conceptions of poetry. It represented nothing less than a decisive reconfiguration of poetry.” (…) By 1814, five years before the publication of the Divan, Goethe had come upon the poems of Hafiz in the translation of Joseph von Hammer (later von Hammer-Purgstall), a prolific Orientalist who had rendered the complete Divan of the Persian poet into German. The word divan (diwan in Arabic) is itself of Persian origin; originally it meant a kind of register, a record. (The word has passed into European languages to designate border and customs controls, e.g., douane in French or dogana in Italian.) An early Arab philologist could state that ‘poetry is the diwan of the Arabs’. By that he meant that the poems of the pre-Islamic Arabs, with their very specific mentions of places and of tribes, of battles and skirmishes, of blood-feuds and clan rivalries, served as a record of events that would otherwise have been lost. (…) But the word divan also came to designate the collected works of a poet. And it is in conscious imitation of his beloved ?afi? that Goethe chose to use the word Divan for his own collection. Even so, there is a crucial distinction to be noted. Goethe calls his own collection the West-östlicher Divan, the West-Eastern Divan. Rare original FLUXUS-catalogue, made by cutting up the original double sided exhibition poster in 16 pieces, then stapled with two metal staples at the top, both still present on this copy and with no rust. Contains text and illustations of works and performances by Stanley Brouwn, Bazon Brock, Franz Mon, Tomas Schmit and Wolf Vostell. An extremely well preserved copy of this rare and fragile publication with only minimal bumping to the corners. In near fine/fine condition.

Stain in corner on the first plate, plate 2 and 4 with foxing, overall some minor spotting. Fine full brown morocco, spine gilt- and blindstamped and with raised bands, boards with gilt frames and with blind ruled rectangular patterns and, in the middle, the gilt monogram stamp of Gustaf Bernström. Fries’ descendant Nils Fries (1912-94), also professor of botany at the university of Uppsala.Detta är den illustrerade praktupplagan de svenska svamparna. De fina planscherna är huvudsakligen efter teckningar av Elias Pettersson och Petter Åkerlund. Svampbeskrivningarna hade tidigare publicerats i ”Monographia hymenomycetum Sueciae, (1857-63) och de praktiska detaljerna delvis i ”Anteckningar öfver de i Sverige växande ätliga svampar” (1836). Även i detta verk justerar dock Fries detaljer i sina släkt- och artnamn. Till skillnad från de tidigare mykologiskt rent vetenskapliga verken hade detta stora arbete även en folkbildande praktisk funktion, att höja medvetenheten om svamparnas användning och värde. Här omtalas var man äter svamp, giftsvampar, svampars beståndsdelar, insamlingsråd, uppväxt och fortplantning m.m. Verket fick en enastående verkan och blev starten för en snabbt växande svensk populärmykologi, och det följdes snabbt av billigare och enklare verk med färgillustrationer av svampar, av mykologer som J. W. Smitt och N. J. Andersson. Elias Fries (1794-1878) från Femsjön i Småland, ofta kallad ”mykologins fader”, blev snabt ett världsnamn inom botaniken och framförallt inom mykologin. Hans stora genombrott, ”Systema mycologicum”, började utges redan 1821. Hans världsrykte stärktes genom verk som ”Epicris systematis mycologici” (1836-38), ”Hymenomycetus Europaei” (1838) m.fl. Han främsta insatser låg inom systematiken och beskrivningen av svamparna. Han tillhörde dock den romantiska naturuppfattningens så hans indelning i klasser och underklasser är numera obsolet, men ”...his distinction of different spore colors still has important taxonomic value, and he is especially remembered for his ability to describe species.” (DSB).
