First edition of the description of the famous Ermenonville garden created by the Marquis de Girardin between 1769 and 1778, written by his son. A tour through one of the earliest French picturesque gardens, beautifully illustrated with aquatints including a view of the island where Girardin's friend Jean Jaques Rousseau was entombed -the park was largely designed around ideas suggested by Rousseau's Nouvelle Héloise.
