* "The King's Book" was originally published just after the execution of King Charles I in 1649, Eikon Basilike is a defence of the king's motivations and actions prior to and during the first Civil War in Britain. It has often been considered as a work of the late king himself, but this has been heavily questioned (he may have invented the disposition of the text). Nevertheless, the work gained enormous popularity in Britain and was published about 35 times during 1649. <br>** One of 290 copies.
