Heavy book - extra postage outside Sweden.

Beautiful green morocco, gilt spine, gilt egdes and borders, ruled throughout, bound by Thouvenin. Worn corners, small scratchings and some minor soilings to rear board. Minor later annotations on the fly leaf, which has a small tear to inner margin. With two small pasted listings from auction catalogues. Page numbers vaguely written by hand until p. 150. From the library of Thore Virgin with his name on fly leaf. A very nice copy of the rare edition.

Contemporary full calf with sprinkled edges, sparsely gilt spine label and spine, the spine with five raised bands. Spine and boards slightly rubbed, paste down endpaper with neat, contemporary inscription. Interior with one sheet loose, page 7 of the first part of Opera oratoria with paper loss at lower corner, part 2 with professionally repaired tear on page 117, interior else with a couple of tiny spots and creases, else fine. Johannn Daniel Schöpflin (1694-1771), was a professor of history, rhetoric and law at the university of Strasbourg. Schöpflin was also a teacher of Goethe during the years of 1770 and 1771. All in all a well-kept volume with both parts of Schöpflin's Opera oratoria bound together with his study of celtic languages, Vindiciae celticae.

Somewhat later (late 19th century) half-calf with marbled egdes and lavishly gilt spine with five raised bands. Front joint and edges of boards quite heavily rubbed, corners slightly bumped. Endpapers and plates quite heavily foxed, interior else fine. Two works related to the use and development of microscopes bound together in one volume. The first work is by Pritchard, the second work by Goring but edited by Pritchard. Both works in first editions.

Samtida handskrift, [sannolikt Uppsala, ca 1847-1848?]. 33 x 22 cm. (138) sidor, varav 120 handskrivna notsidor och 18 sidor blanka. Nött, samtida halvskinnband med marmorerade pärmpapper och handskriven pärmtiteletikett. Pärmhörnen med brytveck, pärmarnas kanter med kraftiga skrapmärken. Inlagan med några enstaka smärre fläckar, i övrigt ren. Samtida, handskriven notsamling omfattande sammanlagt tolv sånger ur Gunnar Wennerbergs Gluntarne i sättning för baryton och bas samt ett stort antal polkor, valser och annan salongsmusik från tiden. Gluntarne utkom för första gången i tryckt form 1849-1850 men tillkom redan under åren 1847-1849 i kretsen kring studentsällskapet Juvenalerna i Uppsala där sångerna tidigt fick stor spridning, de sista sångerna tillkom 1850 efter Wennerbergs flytt till Skara. Dessa handskrifter omfattar inte pianosatsen utan endast baryton- och basstämmorna till sångerna 7, 11, 14, 12, 9, 10, 16, 17, 18, 1, 2 och 3. Pärmtiteletiketten är signerad "A.R. Qvist 1845", och avskriften av Gluntarne är sannolikt en av de avskrifter som fick spridning såväl inom som utom Uppsala innan det färdiga verket till sist publicerades i tryckt form, en företeelse som Wennerberg även nämner i sin år 1882 författade inledning till nyutgåvan av Gluntarne.

Book plate of Ture Gundersen. A bit worn with small stain to foot of spine. Contents with a slight traces of moist, occasional foxing. Good copy. Contains volume I and II out of IV. The two beautiful title-pages are engraved by Goethe, who made these for the first edition of 1773-74. This edition also includes the addition of John Clark’s An answer to Mr. Shaw’s inquiry into the authenticity of the poems ascribed to Ossian. A must-have for each Goethe collection.

Huvudsakligen en ren och snygg inlaga. Hülphers faktaspäckade historik har enligt Tobias Norlind berättigat honom att bli kallad den svenska musikforskningens fader.

Vol 1 with partly damaged covers, some marginal tape repairs to 7 leaves, a few leaves with small marginal wormholes, many leaves at end with waterstain to inner margin. The first two leaves in vol. 2 a bit loose. Otherwise mostly clean inside. With the signature of Albert Engström in all three volumes.
