The techniques of Gothic construction revealed by the architect and master builder Georg G. Ungewitter (1820-1864), a German pioneer of Gothic Revival architecture. Relatively few of Ungewitter's designs were actually built, and from 1852 his main priority lay as a writer and a teacher of architecture at the Höheren Gewerbeschule in Kassel, exerting influence particularly on church architecture in the final decades of the nineteenth century and the early decades of the twentieth.
