Berlin, Wasmuth, 1890-91. 48x32. VIII+40 pp. + 40 heliogravure plates; VIII+28 pp. + 100 heliogravure plates. Loose as issued in two uniformly designed gilt-lettered half cloth portfolio with tie-strings. Weak dampstains and minor chippings in bottom corner of a few plates and initial text leaves in the first volume, four plates in the second volume chipped in margin well outside of picture and caption, otherwise fine.

A fine set of these portfolios with (mostly full-plate) photographs of edifices in Rome, the first volume covering antiquity, the second showing buildings from the 15th-19th centuries.
