Berlin (1926). 21x15. 56 pp. 11 full-page illustrations on yellow background (two plans, eight interior and detail renderings by Ernst Pickardt, and a perspective of the Romanische Haus in its original shape). Publisher's gilt-lettered cloth, a fine copy. Printed on Bütten-Papier in a numbered (not specified) edition of which this is no. 408.

A presentation of the new cinema theatre 'Gloria Palast' in Berlin which opened in January 1926. The Neo-Baroque cinema palace, designed by Ernst Lessing and Max Bremer, was built in the three lower floors of the "Romanische Haus" at Kurfürstendamm. Includes texts by Lippmann, both architects, Oscar Bie, and others, and a list of all contributing firms. Ufa's main premiere cinema, The Gloria Palace was the site of the first German 'talkie' as well as the premieres of 'Der blaue Engel' and other classics. It was destroyed by allied bombs in 1943, leaving just the ruins of the outer walls.
