Owner's signature on the inside of the front board, Börje Knös. Note on the inside of the front board. Small drawing on the inside of the front board. 1 X 5,5 cm at the bottom of the engraved title-page cut off, without damaging the engraving. Owner's signature on page 3. Damp stain on the majority of the front free endpaper. Provenance: Börje Knös. Ogier Ghislain Busbecq [1522-1592] was a Flemmish writer, herbalist and diplomat, who was ambassador to the Ottomon Empire at Constantinople, in 1554 and 1556, under the reign of Suleyman I. Bubescq later served as a councillor to Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I in 1562. The book contains Busbecq's four letters of the Turkish Embassy, military affairs, the embassy to Suleyman and Ferdinand, an letter to Holy Roman Emperor Rudolph II, and a look at the life of the author.
