Vsevolod Meyerhold. - Stanislavskij (Stanislavsky), Konstantin (Constantin). - et al. - :
Kirkegaards Antikvariat
kir61044
Moscow: Intourist, 1930's (between 1932 and 1936, probably early 1934, the Second Five Year Plan is mentioned and an auction July 1934 in an advert). Folded. Very worn and fragile but complete item. Pictorial introduction to The Second Moscow Art Theatre (MKhAT 2nd or MAT 2nd), a prominent Moscow theater that existed between 1924 and 1936. Rare original Intourist pictorial publication produced in the 1930s (likely around 1930–1935) to showcase the innovative, revolutionary, avant-garde developments in Soviet drama, stage design, and performance to foreign audiences. This item was part of the curated image of the USSR presented by Intourist, which aimed to project a picture of a dynamic, modern, and culturally advanced state. The brochure has a modernist visual design, with text in both French and English .The brochure highlights the departure from traditional, bourgeois theater in favor of "new" Soviet theatre, which featured unconventional staging, industrial themes, and, in some cases, the "biomechanical" approach promoted by Vsevolod Meyerhold. The "new trends" often featured in these brochures and performances included: Constructivist Stage Design: Moving sets, cogs, and machinery, such as those designed by Lyubov Popova for Meyerhold. Biomechanics: A system of acting focusing on physical, mechanical, and acrobatic skills rather than psychological realism. "Mass" Theatre: Productions aimed at showcasing Communist ideology to working-class audiences. Also a page on Nathalie Satz children's theatre.

Halléns antikvariat
hal48773
Norstedts 1971. Första upplagan. 176 sid. Häftad. Gott antikvariskt skick, sprättad, omslagen med endast lindriga bruksspår. Debuten. Hyllan.

MEESE, Jonathan (w. Lynne van Rhijn and Benno Tempel):
Kirkegaards Antikvariat
kir60538
Den Haag: GEM Museum of Contemporary Art / Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König 2011. 8vo in original black clothed hardcover. 199 pages, illustrated throughout. Spine a little tanned else very well preserved. Boldly SIGNED IN HAND by Meese across innercover and front free blank, and with inscription in hand to cover "Barbarella De Flash Gordonon" and dated 1.2.3011 (!). Barbarella" refers to the recurring character or archetype of Barbarella the sci-fi heroine as interpreted by Meese, often appearing in his chaotic, energetic, and culturally referential paintings, installations, and performances alongside figures like Zarathustra, Moomins, and Mickey Mouse. Meese frequently uses Barbarella as a symbol of power and a "femme fatale" archetype, integrating her into his dense, action-painting style . The time and space traveller Flash Gordon is equally part of Meese's universe. - "With the exhibition and the artists book of the same name ""Total Selbstportrait" (Total Self-Portrait) Jonathan Meese is again exploring self-identity through diverse media like paintings, photos, and collages, often incorporating elements of evolution, childhood, pop culture, and art history to question the role of the artist and the essence of art itself. The concept celebrates the Gesamtkunstwerk (total work of art) and features Meese's iconic, often chaotic, exploration of self, history, and the "birth of art".
